On Tuesday, February 27th and Thursday, February 29th, 6:30pm - 9:00pm, we invite you to join us for a reading of a new contemporary play in celebration of this year’s Black History Month theme, “African Americans and the Arts”, written and performed by legendary theatre artist Thurman E. Scott.

We Are One is about people from different backgrounds trying to come together and confront the realities of community, prejudice, slavery, power, and communication in a new and unique way. We Are One moves between conversations taking place in a Harlem church congregation about the human experience and scenes of stark, emotional current and historic experiences of life lived with neighbors.

This play examines why we have biases and how we live out our thoughts, both positive and negative. It speaks to the barriers that divide us and explores techniques to overcome those barriers. Most importantly, it gives the audience new insights about why we feel we can’t come together, and ways to build a connection so that we can truly “be one”.

After the reading, we will have an active audience discussion. Light refreshments will be provided. Tickets are available at: bit.ly/ATW-BlackHistoryMonthEvents
