Remix ⟷ Culture presents a 3-hr multimedia experience showcasing an incredible collective of NY-based musicians, storytellers, remix artists, and DJs from diaspora communities of Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. Over the course of 3 hours, we will take the audience on a "tanfis" (catharsis) journey, harmonizing acoustic traditional music with electronic audio and video remixes, deep listening and dance, storytelling and trance, embroidery and video art. This live program is the culmination of 3 months of collaboration between the 14 artists, and will take place at the iconic Roulette Intermedium, with its renowned sound experience and cinematic video projection. In the face of increased dehumanization and misrepresentation of their communities, the Tanfis artists have been pouring their hearts and souls into this work in incredibly inspiring ways, and we invite you to join us in the service of coming closer to a shared humanity.
