QED Spotlight: Matt Storrs and Tristan Miller
QED Astoria is spotlighting two brilliant comedians, Matt Storrs and Tristan Miller, in July! Venture to QED on Thursday, July 18th at 7:30pm and be transported to prehistoric lands and the Upper Midwest as the two comedians present solo shows in a comedy double-feature!
ABOUT THE TWO SHOWS
Jurassic Heartbreak By Matt Storrs
Matt Storrs has never loved anything more than his first love: dinosaurs. After romantic rejection in elementary school, Matt copes by starting a movement to advocate for his favorite dinosaur and get the governor of Arizona recalled.
Years later, after another failed romantic connection, a trip to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show puts Matt face to face with the illegal fossil trade. Matt unearths new knowledge that makes him question his first love.
Will newfound knowledge allow him to forgive and find lasting love? You won’t have to wait 65 million years to find out.
Least Likely to Succeed: Tales from a Midwestern Homeschooler By Tristan Miller
New York-based comedian Tristan Miller makes light of their experience growing up in the Midwest as a homeschooler.
In Least Likely to Succeed, Tristan discusses growing up in the Midwest, their trip to New Zealand, teaching, being homeschooled, and shares a grab bag of characters and impressions.
ABOUT THE TWO COMEDIANS
Matt Storrs Matt Storrs (Edinburgh Fringe Festival and SF Sketchfest) is a comedian and storyteller based out of NYC and originally from Phoenix, AZ. Matt created and performed two one-person shows “Portly Lutheran Know-It-All” about his time attending a religious middle school and “Jurassic Heartbreak” about his lifelong love of dinosaurs. He has also been featured on NPR. Matt brings his legal background to the stage with his sharp stories and esoteric comedy. Matt Storrs is a humor person.
Tristan Miller Tristan Miller is an award-winning actor, writer, and comedian who has been featured in The Midwinter Madness and Laughing Devil Festivals, along with The Minnesota and Kansas City Fringe Festivals. Tristan uses their sardonic wit and goofy midwestern sensibilities to lighten many heavier topics, such as mental health, religion, identity, and American politics. Tristan has toured Manic Impressive around the continental US and Aotearoa, New Zealand, and is excited to bring the show to NYC.
