Drink & Draw: Live Flapper Dancing Drawing Class
Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history of posters, is taking it back to the 1920s with a motion-drawing class featuring live period dancers on January 19 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Poster House, 119 West 23rd Street in Manhattan. Tickets are $40.
Instructors Robin Mork and A.E. Kieren will teach participants the basics of live-motion figure drawing inspired by the acclaimed exhibition Art Deco: Commercializing the Avant-Garde. Afterward, attendees will practice their newfound skills by drawing performers from Gatsby Entertainment NYC — all while enjoying Prohibition-era cocktails.
Admission includes a complimentary cocktail from Café des Affiches and all materials will be provided.
Robin Mork is a Brooklyn-based illustrator and book cover designer, and an adjunct assistant professor of illustration and design at CUNY Queens College. She has a BA from Smith College and an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts. Clients include Simon & Schuster, JP Morgan Chase, and Columbia University, among others.
A.E. Kieren is a freelance illustrator. He specializes in on-location illustration for “sketch journalism” as well as for events and entertainment. He holds a BFA in Illustration from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI and an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from School of Visual Arts. Kieren also is the host and curator of the long-running and popular weekly sketch night The Anatomy Lesson at Club Cumming.
