Artichoke Dance Company presents Immersive Performance Tours Along the Gowanus Canal, an experience that brings audiences to various locations in Gowanus, Brooklyn for site performances and a walking tour providing perspectives on this rapidly changing area. Each tour date has its own theme and is led by experts in the respective area:
Saturday, June 29: Medicinal and Edible Plants of Gowanus Sunday, June 30: Environmental Justice in Gowanus Saturday, July 13: the Gowanus watershed Sunday, July 14: Gowanus Street Art
The Brooklyn-based Artichoke Dance Company is one of the nation's leading eco-arts organizations, delighting audiences of all ages with dynamic site-reflective performance works. Like many of Artichoke Dance Company’s productions, Immersive Performance Tours Along the Gowanus Canal features costumes created from upcycled plastic materials, demonstrating zero-waste principles while commenting on the proliferation of plastics in contemporary life.
