    12/6: Race opens at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

    MUSEUM EXHIBITIONS

    Ongoing: National September 11 Memorial & Museum Preview Site. Learn about the plans to remember and honor the nearly three thousand people who died in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993, and September 11, 2001, including models and sketches of the design and an area where you can record memories of where you were on Sept. 11th, 2001, for the permanent collection.

    EVENTS

    12/2: 2009 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting. The 2009 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will be lit for the first time, with performances from 7pm-9pm. The two-hour program features various celebrity appearances and a star-studded musical lineup. The tree will be lit daily through Jan. 7th from 5:30am-11:30pm; all day on Christmas (24 hours); and from 5:30am-9pm on New Year’s Eve.

    12/5: Annual Holiday Party at the New York City Police Museum. Participate in activities about holidays celebrated in winter, including Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa and more, and learn about policing around the world. Great for families with children of all ages. 11am-2pm.

    12/5: Art Gallery Walking Tour in Chelsea. Visit seven modern art galleries in the world’s center for contemporary art as Rafael Risemberg, Ph.D finds and explains this month’s most fascinating exhibits in painting, sculpture, electronic media & photography. (Private tours available.) 1pm. $20.

    Through 1/3: Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Experience the exhilaration and wonder of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the world-famous Radio City Rockettes. Both dazzlingly grand and genuinely moving, the Spectacular features the Rockettes’ signature eye-high kicks and precision choreography in multiple show-stopping numbers.

    Through 1/3: George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, New York City Ballet. Tchaikovsky’s glorious musical masterpiece, with George Balanchine’s unforgettable, dreamworld choreography -- where ballerina snowflakes fly across the stage, toys burst into exuberant life, and little Marie is saved from the villainous Mouse King by the heroic Nutcracker.
