Annie Baker's new comedy is a beautifully crafted diorama, a petri dish in which we see, with terrific detail and clarity, the hilarious sadness of a motley quintet. Imelda, A New Musical - A portrait of the ambitious and controversial woman often referred to as "The Steel Butterfly." The musical spans the 1940s to 1980s, the pivotal years after The Philippines gained its independence. Imelda Marcos wanted to set her country as an equal player on the world stage and gain the respect of the world.Love, Loss, and What I Wore - Written by Nora and Delia Ephron, this collection of vignettes and monologues is based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons' friends. During its 12-week run, the show will feature three different five-member casts, and will include such noted performers as Samantha Bee, Rhea Perlman, Lucy Devito, Kristin Chenoweth, Tyne Daly, Katie Finneran, Rosie O'Donnell, Mary Louise Wilson and Rita Wilson. [A portion of the production's proceeds will benefit Dress for Success, a charity providing work clothing and job support for low-income women. Audience members are invited to donate their gently-used purses and other accessories in the theatre lobby.]Luck - This play by Megan Riordan is based on her life as the daughter of a professional Las Vegas gambler. The script powers its weay through questions of destiny, free will and faith, against a backdrop of casino games of chance.The Night Watcher - Solo show. Simultaneously a best friend, advisor, confidant and sage to the many young people who call her "Auntie," Charlayne Woodard is childless only by biological standards. Told with penetrating grace and candor, Woodard beautifully weaves together stories of the ordinary and extraordinary ways she's mentored the children in her life.On Becoming - In her solo show, Catherine Wolf takes audiences on a voyage -- through songs and stories -- of growing up surrounded by very colorful, famous and talented personalities. Catherine's role models were her Grandmother Lea Luboshutz, a violinist, who had concertized all over Europe and was brought to America by Sol Hurok; her Great Uncle and Aunt, Pierre Luboshutz and Genia Nemenoff, who were world famous Duo Pianists, and her illustrious Uncle Boris Goldovsky, who for 30 years was heard on the radio every Saturday, discussing the operas during the intermissions of the Metropolitan Opera Broadcast.
