Throughout the '60s, his band, the Bluesbreakers, acted as a finishing school for the leading British blues-rock musicians of the era. This intimate evening features the award-winning composer-lyricist performing his music and sharing stories about his life and deep relationship with poetry.

Gordon’s passion for poetry dates back to his childhood and has provided inspiration for a great deal of his works since. He describes his motivation to compose music set to poems, “I set poems to music because by doing so, they enter me like fresh water and they seem to clear away the cobwebs. It is like putting the right info into my hard drive as an antidote to all the spam. Poetry is often my savior.” His 2012 album, Silver Rain, is a compilation of songs he wrote set to the poetry of Langston Hughes, performed by soprano Nicole Cabell. Al Kooper once again returns to B.B. King Blues Club to celebrate his birthday in grand fashion. A legendary keyboardist, songwriter, and producer, Kooper appeared on Bob Dylan's classic albums Highway 61 Revisited (1965) and Blonde on Blonde (1966), and he produced New Morning for Dylan in 1970. He also toured as a member of Dylan's band off and on over the years. He was a member of the influential group The Blues Project from 1965 to 1967, and he formed Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1967, remaining with the group for its debut album Child Is Father to the Man (1968). Kooper was also the principal songwriter for both bands. As if all of that weren't enough, he also appeared on and produced 1968's platinum Super Session album with Mike Bloomfield and Stephen Stills.

The Juilliard Orchestra takes the stage of Carnegie Hall, led by acclaimed American conductor and Juilliard alum Marin Alsop in an all-Corigliano program celebrating the composer's 75th birthday. Winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2001 and scored for string orchestra, John Corigliano's Symphony No. 2 was commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra for the 100th Anniversary of Symphony Hall. Symphony No. 3, Circus Maximus is scored for antiphonally-placed wind ensembles, and will transform Carnegie Hall into the ancient Roman arena of the same name, through which Juilliard faculty member Corigliano strives "both to embody and to comment on this massive and glamorous barbarity".

Acclaimed actress and entertainer Tovah Feldshuh makes her 54 Below debut! In this zany musical evening, custom fashioned for 54 Below, Ms. Feldshuh revisits the 1970s when she first came to Studio 54 and to Broadway. She also inhabits a gallery of hilarious characters, ages 8 to 80, comic and dramatic—who sing! The songlist includes Broadway classics from Bernstein, Styne, and Gershwin to contemporary artists Dar Williams and Craig Carnelia. For these three special performances, Tovah will be joined by Broadway's Jesse Kissel on piano. For her work on the New York stage, which includes, among many others, Golda's Balcony, Irena's Vow, Yentl, Lend Me a Tenor, and Saravá! (which she will revisit in this show), Tovah is the recipient of four Tony nominations, and has won four Drama Desk, four Outer Critics Circle, the Obie, the Theatre World, and the Lucille Lortel Awards.

Traveling the miles along a star-kissed path, the first break came early for D.C.'s ska darlings, when they landed a 1992 tour opening for ska originals, Bad Manners. In 1997, Rancid's Tim Armstrong signed them to Hellcat/Epitaph where they recorded two albums with producer Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion): the genre-defining Willis (SPIN Magazine called it "An equal opportunity dancehall crasher — part '60s keg rock, part 2Tone and part Motown") and Awesome Mix Tape #6 (CMJ noted it for "lacing a Stax shout-out feel with Caribbean rhythms").
