Midtown Comics in New York City celebrates the comic book art form with Free Comic Book Day, on Saturday, May 7th, by offering free new comics including every title from every publisher participating in this event. Some of the hottest titles from Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse and Image Comics will be available with no purchase required. Over two million comic books for readers of all ages will be given away by participating stores, introducing as many people as possible to the excitement of comic books!

What's special only at Midtown: This year they are thrilled to present their very own version of the Free Comic Book Day Green Lantern Special Edition comicbook, from DC Comics, with the Midtown Comics logo emblazoned on the cover! This is a great jumping-on point for new readers, and tells the origin of Green Lantern, as written by Geoff Johns with captivating art by Ivan Reiss, and includes a preview to the upcoming epic event Flashpoint. They'll also be giving out a special comic book from the NY Fire Department and Marvel Comics, featuring the New Avengers that teaches kids about fire safety.  At the Downtown location only, they'll have a group of "cosplayers" patrolling the store and the street, dressed in their favorite super hero costumes!

Now in its tenth year, Free Comic Book Day is especially timely, with major Hollywood films featuring Thor, Captain America, Green Lantern and the X-Men taking center stage at multiplexes everywhere, throughout the Spring and Summer of 2011.

Free Comic Book Day kicks off at 11:00AM and runs until 9:00PM (while supplies last) at all three Midtown Comics locations - Times Square: 200 W. 40th Street, corner 7th Avenue; Grand Central: 459 Lexington Avenue, corner 45th Street; Downtown: 64 Fulton Street, corner Gold Street.

Midtown Comics opened its first store in 1997, and is now the industry leading retailer of comic books, graphic novels and Manga, with its online store as well as three landmark NYC locations in Times Square, Grand Central and Downtown.
