This is the first major museum exhibition on the life and legacy of iconic politician and New Yorker Shirley Chisholm. She was the first Black woman elected to Congress and the first woman to run for president on a major party ticket, tackling social issues such as education and childcare, rights for migrants and workers, abortion access, and racial and gender equality. Celebrating the centennial of her birth, the exhibition showcases a range of historical artifacts, art, photographs, and video. It aims to highlight Chisholm as both an inspirational figure to the following generations and a trailblazer whose work remains unfinished.
