GIRL DINNER: Art by Bree Chapin
Jutta Gallery is thrilled to announce GIRL DINNER, a solo exhibition of all new works by Bree Chapin. This exhibition consists of figurative and still life paintings—in vivid pink.
Opening reception Friday, May 10 from 6 - 9PM. The exhibition runs through a closing event on Saturday, May 18. Contact Contact@jutta.gallery or call (917) 371 9149 with any questions or collector inquiries.
Hazy figures are conjured from downtown bars and half-remembered parties. Haphazardly-strewn objects hint at careless nights. All of this, a waking dream in pink.
Bree’s paintings are known for suggestive imagery and delirious all-pink palette. She has spent years creating work in this single color, forsaking all others. As the artist explains, “pink is at once loud and aggressive yet hazy and dreamy. It’s punk rock and strawberry shortcake. I am captivated by the aesthetic, physical, and symbolic qualities of the color. There is a power in pink, a history—and it has never once cared what we think of it.”
In her latest series, Bree employs her signature color system to imagine scenes and characters nostalgic for the fleeting freedom of irresponsibility. GIRL DINNER will feature all-new paintings of the blurry spaces between risk and revelry, restraint and release.
