Somewhere to Roost at American Folk Art Museum
"Somewhere to Roost" examines how artists evoke and conceive ideas of home. The exhibition features over 60 works, including paintings, textiles, photographs, and sculptures. Its title comes from an artwork by Thornton Dial, Sr., “Birds Got to Have Somewhere to Roost,” which is on view as well. "Somewhere To Roost" also explores the importance of rest, comfort, and safety, focusing on the mysterious and poetic nature of the word “somewhere.” The exhibition emphasizes experiences of immigration, incarceration, and housing insecurity, alongside more playful visions of home.
